Our Story

Two decades in pursuit of one perfect evening

Luxor opened in 2004 with nine tables and a single wood-fired oven. The obsession has not changed.

The Beginning

From nine tables to a landmark

Founded by Elise Marchand and her brother Théo, Luxor began as a neighbourhood dining room on Nob Hill. The first menu had six dishes. Guests queued anyway.

Today the kitchen brigade numbers eighteen, the cellar holds twelve hundred labels, and the dining room seats sixty-four — but the founding rule is unchanged: cook only what you would proudly serve at your own table.

Our tasting menu is rewritten each season in collaboration with growers, foragers and fishermen we have worked with for over a decade.

Philosophy

How we think about dinner

Three principles govern everything that leaves the pass.

Sourced, not shipped

Ninety percent of produce travels under 120 miles.

Fire and patience

Binchotan grills, 60-day dry ageing, nothing rushed.

Quiet luxury

Precision without pretence — warmth is the final ingredient.
